Course Objectives:This course will explore multiple
types of cabling subsystems and media such as UTP, STP, coax and fiber optics
cabling. The student will be able to install and terminate cabling, build out a
telecommunications room, punch down and test cable and be able to recognize
different topologies and media types. The student will gain the knowledge to pursue a career in structured
cabling as a cable installer or enhance their current position such as a Network
Systems Engineer supporting (Layer 2/3) applications.
The course has a LAB consisting of all the cabling
subsystem components so the student can receive real world knowledge of what
he/she will be installing day to day. The student will complete a telecom
build-out, install cable, terminate and test and document the infrastructure as
he/she would do out in the field.
